Eugene is growing and land prices continue to rise. Now is the time to acquire land, create new athletic fields at our schools, and establish a regional outdoor education center. Here’s what this measure will bring to Eugene:

Ensuring Neighborhood & Community Parks

for the Future

The purchase of 13 new neighborhood parks and two new community parks will help ensure that every neighborhood has a park within safe walking distance. By purchasing and developing additional land around Golden Gardens Park, we can create a safe place for people of all ages to recreate and enjoy nature.

Safeguarding Critical Natural Areas

The purchase of up to 145 acres along the Willamette River and Ridgeline Trail Corridor will make critical connections to existing natural areas. People will enjoy easy access to outdoor experiences, while fish and wildlife will be protected and water quality improved.

Playing Year-Round at 8 Local Schools

Synthetic surface sportsfields allow children and adults to play and be active all year. By building fields in partnership with Eugene 4J and Bethel School Districts, we leverage precious resources and ensure children have improved access to fields that keep them active and safe. Proposed school sites for new fields include: Jefferson, Cal Young, Madison, and Roosevelt or Spencer Butte Middle Schools. Existing fields will be renovated at Churchill, North Eugene, Sheldon, and South Eugene High Schools.

Creating a Regional Outdoor Education Center

The West Eugene Wetlands Environmental Education Center is a partnership effort with local and federal agencies. The vision is a dynamic and accessible regional center that will enrich education opportunities for local schools, and provide classes and lectures for people of all ages.
